Expanded metal is a mesh formed from a single piece sheet metal. That sheet of of solid metal is slit and stretched with each stroke of a die which forms a raised diamond pattern. The pattern varies by gauge and type of material and the size of the diamond. The meshes can be pressure rolled into a flat condition so that the strands are in the same plane as the sheet.

PRODUCT APPLICATIONS:

Fencing - Flooring - Security Partitions - Security Cages - Screens - Vents - Grilles - Stairs - Window Guards - Ramps - Drying Racks - Walkways - Furniture - Pallets - Trollies - Trucks - Shelving - catwalks

MATERIALS AND FINISHES:

Steel - Aluminium - Stainless Steel - Heat Resisting Steel - Incoloy - Copper - Brass - Titanium - Monel 400

THE BENEFITS
Expanded metal carries several advantages over other mesh products:

  • the mesh is made from one single piece of material, there is no assemblage of separate parts, whether by interweaving, interslotting, brazing or welding. The mesh cannot unravel or work loose and there is no possibility of fretting strands.
  • Even when cut into irregular shapes and left unframed expanded metal does not fray.
  • Expanded metal is useful in areas subject to vibration and where the mesh has to withstand the stress of impact. It's lack of joints, welds or woven strands make expanded metal capable of retaining it's structural integrity.
  • Expanded metal is a highly efficient conductor Of electricity, magnetic flux and heat because of it's jointless continuity.
  • Conventional (also known as standard or regular or raised) expanded metal is ideal for walkways, catwalks and load bearing gratings. It's surface provides grip for tyres and rubber based footwear and it's knuckles support weight and withstand stress better than joints or welds. Ramps for car transporters, catwalks for sea tankers and landing platforms for drilling rigs all benefit from the unique qualities of this product.

HOW TO ORDER:

Due to the vast array of specifications and materials utilised for expanded metal it is advisable that you contact Genwork sales department or e-mail your specifications.

1. Conventional (also known as regular or standard or raised) meshes with angled strands have their dimensions given from centre to centre of the knuckles, as shown here.

2. Fattened meshes dimensions are given from point to point of the actual aperture
